"I thought the staff were amazing"

About: Loane House / Ward 1

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

Fell and broke my arm at home was sent to ward 1 Loane house for rehabilitation. Was there about 3 weeks and getting home now, 

The staff were excellent, helpful and courteous. The ward was kept clean to  a high standard, warm and comfortable. The food was good. 

Have to say that I was a bit scared from time to time, some of the patients were very abusive to staff, personalizing abuse which was hard to listen to, especially at night. I thought the staff were amazing. couldn't do enough for you. I will miss the care and attention when I go home.

Thank you for taking the time to share your recent admission to South Tyrone Hospital Ward 1.

It is delightful to read how you have described the staff their professionalism as a team. This reflects on the care delivered: high quality person centered care to all our patients.

Our Domestic staff do a terrific job at maintaining a high standard of cleanliness as do our nursing teams.

I am sorry to read that you felt scared due to what you experienced of the needs presented by other patients. Unfortunately the clinical needs of these patients with behavioral issues are difficult to manage and it can take time and various techniques to aid settling of patients and it is most common that behavioural issues at night are prevalent due to sun downing.

I will ensure to share your kind feedback with the team.
