"In and out of hospital"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / Urology

(as a service user),

I’ve been in and out of hospital to get catheters in and out which I’m struggling with. The surgeon misinformed me, said I was to have a catheter in for a week and come back for tests to find out why I’m retaining urine.

They don’t want to put me forward for a supra pubic catheter even though I’m retaining urine. They also aren’t listening to my quality of life (I’m in my mid 20's) and what will work for me. I’ve tried the catheter for a week and I haven’t coped well with it at all and they want to put me on waiting lists for tests that I was meant to have today while I’m in pain with the catheter in.

Absolutely shocking and I know they could put me forward for emergency surgery for the supra pubic catheter. I have PCOS and Endometriosis and I was given a diagnosis of Fowlers syndrome. Which matches up with my symptoms. This is shocking and I’m sick of this.
