I had an occurrence of atrial fibrillation, where my heart accelerated to between 130 and 200 beats per minute. It happened late on a Saturday night at a lower level of 120 and I managed to sleep a few hours before I decided, via my wife, to call 111 early on the Sunday morning at 06:30.
Very soon 2 paramedics arrived with the full ambulance some 30 minutes later when the paramedics decided I needed to be flat when transported to East Surrey. Both the paramedics and ambulance crew were excellent in every regard and after an extended diagnosis I was duly taken to East Surrey by 09:30.
Straight into A&E followed by a move into the HDU. After being triaged and examined by a doctor and later by the consultant I was shock treated at 13:00 and released at 15:00 with a normal rhythm for my heart.
Throughout the whole experience all staff were brilliant, caring and professional. I could not have asked for better care or service.
