"I matter, and I shouldn’t feel guilty about that"

About: Inclusion Thurrock (Talking Therapies)

(as a service user),

I was caring for three adults (mum, dad and husband) all with complex needs. I gave up a job I loved to be able to care properly. Sometimes I felt overwhelmed, guilty all the time and lost sight of me. The best thing I did was make that call and fully engage with Ian. He was kind, empathetic, funny, knowledgeable....and human. No judgement just understanding. No rush, no huge demands just support to see and have a holistic view of what was happening. One where I was as important as everyone else.

Slowly I started to make changes. Was the process linear...hell no!! Was it emotional...hell yes. Was it the best thing for me...100%.

I'm in a much better place, understand my triggers, know how to recognise them and respond. Most importantly I'm kind to myself.

Forever thankful.

Dear by gammaes84,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback of your experience with Inclusion Thurrock Talking Therapies.

Caring for multiple loved ones with complex needs is an immense responsibility, and it is completely understandable to feel overwhelmed and to struggle with feelings of guilt. It takes great strength to recognize when support is needed, and we are so pleased to hear that you were able to access our services. From the sound of it, having a therapist like Ian, provided the understanding and guidance you deserved.

Your journey highlights the importance of prioritizing one’s own well-being, even in the face of caregiving challenges. The fact that you were able to make meaningful changes, despite the emotional and non-linear nature of the process, is truly commendable. Learning to recognize triggers and respond with self-compassion is a significant achievement, and we are glad to know you are in a much better place.

Thank you for sharing your journey with us. We truly appreciate your thoughtful feedback and will make sure to pass along your kind words to Ian in recognition of his outstanding work.

Your words will undoubtedly inspire others who may be facing similar challenges to seek the support they need and encourage others to share their story with us at Inclusion Thurrock Talking Therapies.

All the best,

Taffy
