"Yearly well woman check"

Questionnaire about general health. Sent in blood pressure after monitoring at home. Bloods taken at surgery. Appointment made for follow up phone consultation in April.

I feel this yearly check up is an excellent way of monitoring patients and helpful in picking up any underlying conditions ie:- high blood pressure, diabetes etc that otherwise may not be picked up until they were causing issues. Dealing with health issues earlier either with life style changes or medication in a more proactive way should lead to fewer hospital admissions and better quality of life for patients.

Talking to friends and family I feel we're very lucky to have this yearly check as many of them don't receive this service and feel it would be very beneficial.

The format of the check has changed slightly this year in that there is an online questionnaire and if you have a blood pressure monitor they ask you to do this at home. Previously this was done by the nurse when the blood test was done. For me this is not a problem and I'm sure there is additional support if patients don't have access to a smart phone/computer and blood pressure tests can still be done at the surgery.

I feel very supported by this service.
