"Tameside General Hospital - Ward 3D - more privacy please"

About: Tameside General Hospital

(as the patient),

I think there could be better meals and food, better parking facilities. And a bit more privacy needed.

Thank you for submitting your comments. I am sorry to read that you were unhappy with some aspects of our services. The Trust offers a wide range of hot and cold food as part of its patient food service. While we recognise that it is difficult to cater for every taste we do regularly review patient satisfaction with the food service. In the last internal survey 80% of patients taking part in the survey rated the food as “good” or excellent” and in the 2007 national assessment of patient food we scored “excellent” for the quality of the food service. We keep the menu under regular review and always try and improve quality where we can.

The car parking facilities at Tameside General Hospital have come under increasing pressure over the years as car ownership has risen and the hospital has dealt with an increasing number of patients. A new multi-storey car park opened on the hospital site this month and further improvement to car parking are planned as part of the Trust’s PFI development. By the time the PFI scheme is completed in 2011, car parking capacity on site will have increased by around 10% and car parking space will be much easier to find and use.

Maintaining privacy and dignity for patients is a high priority for the Trust. Matrons undertake regular reviews on all wards and we constantly look to see if there are any particular improvements that can be made on ward 3.

I am sorry not to have responded sooner. However, Tameside General Hospital has only recently obtained the facility to reply to comments made on this website.
