I would like to express my gratitude to the Trust for my timely surgery and my efficient progress through the care system.
Particular thanks to: Dr Karayiannis, his Secretary Rhonda and the lovely lady who organised my pre med. I appreciate the NHS in general is under immense pressure to clear a large back up of surgeries and was grateful to have been included on Dr Karayiannis' schedule at short notice.
My post surgery care was wonderful, provided by excellent, good humoured staff, and the food wasn't too shabby either! Compliments to the chefs!
However, my concern and motivation for providing this feedback is the post operative pain relief regime at Musgrave. It is inadequate and should be addressed for the benefit of future patients. Having had a previous hip replacement surgery in 2003, I had been provided with an opioid syringe driver. This was essential and eased my pain through the initial 12 hrs or so. Unfortunately this was not the case during my stay this time. Pain relief was rationed and ineffective. Ironically, upon discharge, I was provided with a large amount of slow & quick release Oxycodone; I still have two tablets left...
As I say, my experience overall has been excellent, my only issue is with the pain relief regime.
