I lost my Dad in August and in December I was hit with the worst anxiety I have ever felt.
Horrible symptoms that I didn’t believe were anxiety and they were constant with no let up. I lost my self confidence and independence and began taking SSRI’s to help;
I then self referred to the Inclusion service where I had an assessment over the phone within 2 weeks of referral and the process and what was on offer was explained to me.
I was then introduced to Olivia who was then my therapist for 9 weeks; Olivia put me at ease straight away and explained how the process would work and together we set end goals. I was given weekly home tasks which I completed and reflected on with Olivia and this definitely contributed to me getting on the road to recovery.
I didn’t feel embarrassed talking to her and she made me feel like my anxiety and symptoms was normal and happens, I was then introduced to exposure habituation which was the key factor in excelling my recovery; I would 100% recommend it to anyone who struggles with bad anxiety where your social independence declines.
This exposure therapy and CBT got me back to 90% in 9 weeks - if you’re willing to put the work in you definitely get the rewards. I never thought I was going to get better but Olivia proved me wrong :)
