"Having a family nurse has been such a blessing"

About: Health – Children’s Services / Family Nurse Partnership - South

(as a service user),

I found out i was pregnant, was very confused scared and knew nothing about being pregnant.

My family nurse, Jill, introduced me to the program and straight away started learning things and got the guidance and support i felt i needed.

My family nurse has helped me throughout my full pregnancy, first stages of motherhood, and my little boy turning into a toddler.

Having a family nurse has been such a blessing i wasn’t sure what to expect to start off with as i thought it would have been like a teacher and student but i was very wrong. This experience has made me feel like ive been walking up stairs and Jill had been standing behind making sure i don’t fall back.

When turned 6 months i was so nervous about weaning him, in this program there was lots of sheets that helped and gave me such good tips and tricks that i would never have known if i wasn’t involved in it.

My little boy is now 19 months, and i was very unsure about nursery and what ages kids can go to nursery or even how to go about it but jill helped me and spoke to the nursery found out lots for me and got me an application and now he has a place and starts in august when he turns 2.

Having a family nurse means you can have a relationship with someone that’s not family or friends that gives advice or even maybe constructive criticism that maybe my family wouldn’t say to me. I’ve really really loved having a family nurse and felt like i’ve been nurtured over the last 2 years.

The family nurse program has been amazing help and the helping hand im so grateful to have had and experienced. Being a young mum is very scary but having this support has been fantastic.

Hi charlyb3008,

Thank you so much for this lovely Care Opinion post about your Family Nurse, Jill, and the Family Nurse Partnership (FNP) programme.

We try to ensure that all clients and children feel nurtured, on their FNP journey, and it sounds like you really value the therapeutic relationship that has developed between yourself and your Family Nurse.

We are pleased that you will continue to benefit from the rest of the Toddlerhood phase of the prograame, until August when your little boy is 2 years old.

We will ensure that your kind thoughts are shared with Jill, your Family Nurse.
