We attended Ninewells jaundice clinic. It was a nice calm environment and the staff on reception desk were very kind, helpful and approachable.
A very happy doctor was walking back and forth along corridor and into rooms. I liked the look of him immediately. He was finishing up with a family and informed me on way past that he would not be long. Then returned and introduced himself as Kalvin and offered to help with pram/baby/carry anything. Amazing. I’m yet to have met a more positive and kind doctor! Kalvin was gentle and kind to my 4 week old baby, he was informative about every step and process of the consultation.
The evidenced based information he provided and explained was fantastically reassuring. Prior to venepuncture (blood sample) we discussed heal prick and back of hand sample methods and rationale. He provided my baby with soothing method - super sucrose and he didn’t even flinch or cry. Again, a positive experience as no mum likes witnessing procedures on their little ones, and if you know the vaccination cry/scream you defo want to avoid it at all costs. Concluding the consultation he made a plan, confirming with me the rapid follow up - he’d phone me with blood results later that same day! True to his word around teatime, he phoned. I’m actually quite sad we don’t need to be seen again!
Thank you for your respect and dignity, commitment to high quality care and providing such compassionate care. I felt listened to, supported in decision making and that my baby was safe in your care. Kalvin shows true NHS values. A complete asset to your team.
