About: Girvan Community Hospital / General Medicine

(as a carer),

My uncle received end of life care in Davidson (Girvan community hospital). The care he received especially over the weekend prior to him passing away and the level of care and support we received from 1 staff nurse in particular from Barrhill was the most person centred and compassionate.

As a family we  stayed with my Uncle 24/7 the last few days of his life and were made to feel fully involved in his life and dying.

This was as perfect a death for someone out with their own home.

This was not about the doctors or nursing leadership who were all great. My thank you is  especially about the weekend when the ward was quiet but run by competent and compassionate staff who delivered exceptional care to my Uncle and emotional support to us as a grieving family.

Many thanks for your lovely care opinion.

My name is Karen Wilson and I am the Clinical Nurse Manager temporarily covering the Davidson ward at Girvan.

Firstly, my condolences on the loss of your Uncle, and thank you for taking the time at what must be a very sad and emotional time for you and your family to kindly thank our staff for the care they delivered not only to your Uncle but to yourselves.

We strive at all times to make everyone's stay with us as person centred as we can and I'm very glad that for your Uncle and his family we got it right especially at a time when you all needed it.

I shall pass on your thanks and kindness to the girls on the ward and I hope that in the days and weeks to come your memories of your lovely Uncle see you through some of the harder times.
