"My journey with long covid"

I writing to express my thanks and appreciation to Evelyn and Carina for their support.

When Evelyn first called me I was at a very low point with long Covid; I’d been signed off work with severe fatigue and a debilitating breathing pattern disorder. I had found myself in totally uncharted territory, could barely speak or concentrate, and had to deal with pressure from HR when my initial period of sick pay ended.

The calm kindness, sympathy and understanding that Evelyn showed in her first call has stayed with me. She offered clear advice on pacing and planning and it was clear she is highly experienced and has a real understanding of living with chronic fatigue. Equally importantly, she was gentle and kind in the way she spoke to me; she gave me time and space and was supportive when I became upset during the call. This has immeasurable value.

The follow up calls I then had with Carina were also invaluable. Carina embodies these same qualities of professionalism and experience combined with kindness and care for patients. It was incredibly helpful to have Carina’s support and advice when negotiating with HR and my school department about an appropriate plan for returning to work with reasonable adjustments. Carina sent through a document which lent weight to my requests and as a result my school responded very positively.

This team is doing wonderful work supporting people in a dark time, helping and guiding us through with compassion and a wealth of experience. Thank you.
