"Post traumatic stress and behaviour issues"

About: Inclusion Thurrock (Talking Therapies)

(as a service user),

Over the last few years I realised that I was a victim of a narcissistic mother and that a lot of my behaviours were trauma related.

Following a particularly dark and self destructive episode ( I expressed to a colleague that I felt like setting fire to myself) I was advised to speak to Inclusion.

I was referred to CBT and spent some sessions with Kevin.

As I had knowledge of the cause, he helped me to recognise destructive mindsets and attitudes and gave me the tools to tackle them.

I feel more positive and confident with who I am.

It is reassuring to know that if I start going down those paths again that there are people who can help and steer me back on to the right path.

It is very much like someone walking beside you and holding a torch for you to see the path then gradually letting you walk ahead with the torch but being there as you take your first steps then build your confidence to go on alone.

Thank you Kevin and inclusion

Dear apusxk66,

Thank you for taking the time to share about your experience with Inclusion Thurrock talking therapies.

I am glad to hear that you have a supportive colleague that listened to you and gave you advice to seek support. Your words about realizing the impact of your past and the courage it took to seek support speak volumes about your strength.

I am pleased to hear that Kevin supported you in recognizing and addressing destructive mindsets and attitudes, helping you to build a more positive and confident you.

It seems like you learnt a lot in therapy. Therapists always have an analogy to explain a concept, and your analogy of someone walking beside you, holding a torch until you can light your own path, perfectly captures the nature of our work at Inclusion. It shows how therapist use their knowledge and techniques to help patients during challenging moments and empower them with tools to move forward independently.

I will certainly share your kind words with the Kevin.

Wishing you all the best on your continued journey.

We hope that you feedback will encourage others facing similar difficulties to seek help.

Kind regards,

Ann
