"Disappointed"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Clinical haematology

(as a relative),

My husband was under the care of haematology for 9 months and was regularly seen by his consultants and nursing staff while undergoing chemotherapy and clinic visits.

Sadly my husband passed away just prior to Christmas (unrelated to treatment,) and I am extremely disappointed that despite the request from me,  no one from the team has been in touch to even offer their condolences. If I am honest it feels like my husband was “just a number.” It’s not what I would have expected from a team who appeared to be caring and compassionate. I do understand the pressures all staff are under but sadly I feel that it is disrespectful not to acknowledge a patients death particularly when a relative has made a request for a further discussion.

Dear Nel03,

Firstly I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your husband. If you wish to get in touch to discuss further please do not hesitate to contact me and we can pick up with the clinical team.

Many Thanks
