As I developed the typical UTI symptoms, I phoned the practice at 16:30 expecting to be told to call the emergency service or attend the following morning. Instead, I was told I could come to the practice immediately. On arrival the receptionist gave me a urine collection tube and by the time I saw the doctor 20 minutes later I had the urine sample ready. A urinary infection was confirmed, and I left the practice to collect the antibiotic at the nearby pharmacy. I was therefore able to take the first dose immediately and I made a prompt response.
