"The amazing and consistent support provided"

About: Health – Children’s Services / Family Nurse Partnership - South

(as a service user),

My pregnancy was challenging from the start to the end. However, the unwavering support of my family nurse, Michelle, was a constant source of comfort and strength. From the very beginning, Michelle took the time to truly understand my situation, listening to my concerns and validating my feelings. Her empathetic nature made it easy for me to open up about the difficulties I was facing.

Michelle helped me navigate my pregnancy by providing practical advice and reassurance that I wasn’t alone in this.

On the mental health side, Michelle’s approach was holistic. She checked in with me regularly, not just about my physical well-being, but also about how I was feeling emotionally. She never made me feel like my struggles were insignificant, and she encouraged me to take the necessary steps to care for my mental health as much as my physical health. Michelle also offered me coping techniques, and when necessary, she connected me with mental health professionals who could provide additional support.

What stood out the most was how she balanced being professional with being genuinely caring. She didn’t just fulfill her role as a nurse—she became a trusted part of my support system, ensuring that I felt heard, supported, and empowered throughout my pregnancy journey. Thanks to Michelle, I not only got through a tough time but came out stronger. I now have six month old and the support from Michelle continues, I wouldn’t be the mother I am today without her.

Hi Ab222,

Thank you so much for this lovely Care Opinion post about your Family Nurse, Michelle, and the Family Nurse Partnership (FNP) programme.

We try to ensure that all clients and children feel nurtured, on their FNP journey, and it sounds like you really value the therapeutic relationship that has developed between yourself and your Family Nurse.

We are pleased that you, and your child, will continue to benefit from the rest of the FNP the programme, until your child is 2 years old.

We will ensure that your kind thoughts are shared with Michelle.
