"no staff"

About: Cannock Chase Hospital

i stayed on the rehab ward for three weeks following an infection after my knee surgery. during this time there were only 4 staff members working for 28 patients every day. I feel my stay was prolonged due to this understaffing. there was not enough staff to help me practise walking, even asking to go to the toilet was difficult as they were under so much pressure. i therefore only went for a short walk once a day, not at all on the weekends when the occupational therapist was seeing me. i am also dairy intolerant which was explained to the staff on arrival. but on a daily occurance i was left with no lunch or dinner options as everything had run out by the time the caterers got to our ward. our ward was at the end of the floor and therefore had no choices. my family had to bring in sandwiches for me when they visited but it meant i rarely had a hot meal durung my 3 week stay. this is completely unacceptable and made my stay very difficult and not having proper meals certainly didnt help in my recovery.
