"Building friendships and reducing social isolation"

About: Locality Health and Care Services / Day Services - North

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

Coming here really helps break up my week, we do a lot of activities and we all sit and chat with each other. Sharing our life stories and reminiscing about the past. My family is quite busy so it's good to get out and do something with the day. You watch so many friendships grow here and people slowly coming out of their shell. There is a man who lost his wife recently, he was really isolated until one day he started coming here. Through playing dominos with others and just chatting he built up friendships and it was really good to see. I think it would be good to really encourage more people to use the service, especially men. I think they struggle more to be social and may need more encouragement to start coming here.
