I had a growth on the left side of my neck which had grown gradually over the years. I decided to get it looked at late 2023. I was referred to Stobhill Hospital Glasgow and was seen by a doctor early part of 2024, the decision was made to have the growth removed (worth noting the growth caused me no discomfort). I had a few events I had to attend early to mid 2024 which I made the doctor aware of, therefore could the op be later in the year. I hadn't received any appointment by the end of 2024 so made enquiries on my return from holiday January 2025.
A couple of phone calls got me through to the correct department to make enquiries for my treatment, I was going on holiday for 2 weeks in March so my appointments were scheduled for after my return.
A couple of pre-assessment appointments were made, one over the phone and one an actual hospital attendance, which lasted circa 30 > 45mins. My operation took place recently, attendance time 8am, operation circa 10am, back home by 12.30pm.
I found the staff at the pre-op assessments and on the day of the operation to be efficient, courteous and informative, for someone who doesn't attend doctor surgeries or hospitals very often I found this to be very helpful and comforting, they listened to my concerns and fully explained what was going to happen step by step.
My minor op has been very successful so far, I have experienced no pain therefore no need to take any pain killers.
I must say my overall experience has been very good, start to finish and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff at the Stobhill Hospital, STO DSSA-ACH Day Surgery Unit for the care I received.
