"Lovely experience"

About: Forth Valley Community Services / Health visiting Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Maternity unit

(as a service user),

I gave birth to my daughter by emergency caesarean after we lost her heart rate on the CTG. The emergency buzzer pull was very traumatic for me due to past experience witnessing my mum's cardiac arrest, but I couldn’t have asked for a better team of nurses, medics to put me at ease. Stephanie my midwife held my hand, and kept me calm as I was absolutely terrified at this time. I will not forget her kindness and professionalism during this, she was amazing.

I then was taken to ward 8 after the birth.  Everyone we met was so friendly and knowledgeable. Beth Anne and Lesley Anne were both standout members of staff for us and you can tell they are both so passionate about their role and truly care about the mums and babies they look after. We met Dayna and Kristina along the way who are amazing at what they do. All the staff helped fill me with confidence going home which is exactly what you need as a new mum looking after her baby.

I ended up back on the ward a week later due to concerns with my baby, thankfully she was fine but we were obviously quite worried. We were looked after so well by Pamela who from the minute she met us helped to reassure us, gave us amazing advice and showed us compassion.

Overall my husband and I were so impressed with the standard of care from the nurses, midwives and nursery nurses. We feel lucky to have had an amazing experience with a great team of staff.

We are currently under the team of health visitors in Cowie. Jean is our named HV and I look forward to her visits, she is so delightful and friendly. I felt like I had known her for years after our first visit! She is fantastic at what she does and I feel confident knowing I can come to her for advice on my baby's needs and development.
