"Overwhelmed by the speed and amount of content"

About: Community Services / North Lincolnshire Recovery Focussed team

(as a service user),

I have been attending DBT since before Christmas and I am in general finding the course beneficial in terms of content and support from the group facilitators. However, I feel that 20 weeks is absolutely not long enough to cover the whole of the dbt course literature. We have to rapidly cover content in one session that absolutely needs more time and there isn't time to recap over things after trying to put it into practice over the week previous. It has also been made much more difficult to attend since it moved locations to the football ground.

It's a shame because I was really excited and hopeful when joining the group but I'm instead feeling very overwhelmed by the speed and amount of course content crammed into each week.

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback on your experience of DBT. We really value your feedback and I hope we can learn from your experience to improve our offer of DBT moving forwards. I am pleased to hear you are in general finding the content of the course and the facilitators supportive.

I am sorry to hear that it has become more challenging to attend the group since it has moved to the Iron Foundation. I will share your feedback with the group facilitators to consider our options moving forwards when we have new group rooms available. Hopefully this can also be discussed with the group members.

I am aware from the facilitators that there is a lot of content to cover over the 20 weeks of the group. I will share this feedback with the DBT service and consider what changes can be made based on your feedback. Whilst we would really like to be able to offer more sessions, at present I'm not sure this is an option available to us given our waiting times, so it may be that we consider how either the 20 individual sessions can be used to repeat the group content, or if we can reduce the amount of content covered each week so it feels more manageable.

If you would like to discuss your feedback or my response in more detail, please contact me on 03000 216 300.

Best wishes,

Chris Sanderson
