I am in my 70s.
I had slight pain in my bladder area last March and went to my GP where she did a physical exam and digital exam and found a lump on the left of my prostate. My PSA level was normal.
I had an MRI scan in October then another more thorough digital exam followed by biopsies in December. This confirmed localised intermediate high volume prostate cancer.
It was early February before I saw the consultant who explained my options, or lack of options at my age. My only real option was Radiotherapy.
I had a CT positioning scan with 3 small tattoos done for reference points in late February.
I started radiotherapy in late March for 7 treatments over 2 & 1/2 weeks finishing last week. I have not had any real side effects so far. Hopefully that is the end of it.
I must say everyone involved in my diagnosis and treatment have been absolutely wonderful and I can't fault any of them. Thank you to them all and the Scottish NHS.
