"Our son has had the most incredible care"

About: Royal Hospital for Children and Young People (Edinburgh) / Accident & Emergency Royal Hospital for Children and Young People (Edinburgh) / Castle Mey Ward Royal Hospital for Children and Young People (Edinburgh) / Dalhousie Ward Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a parent/guardian),

Our little boy was recently admitted to the Royal Hospital for Children & Young People in Edinburgh with difficulty breathing.

From the incredible ambulance staff who were with us within minutes, to the staff in A&E, Castle Mey, High Dependency and most recently on Dalhousie Ward, he has had the most incredible care.

From the nurses, to consultants and everyone in between we are so grateful for everyone’s help during a really difficult time.

A special shout out to Rachel on Dalhousie Ward for her kindness and professionalism throughout our time, she is a credit to the NHS. Another mention for Alan, our cleaner who without even knowing it has managed to make us smile during the worst moments. Again, a credit to the NHS.

Hospital is certainly not somewhere anyone wants to be, but the staff at RHCYP have collectively made it that bit easier and we cannot thank them enough.

Dear indigoyp46,

I am sorry to hear that your son was brought to the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People with difficulty breathing. This must have been a very worrying time for you. I hope he has recovered well.

I am the Clinical Nurse Manager who covers Castle Mey, Dalhousie and our Emergency Department. It is great to hear that our staff have been giving you incredible care and have been able to help you at some difficult moments.

I have shared your feedback with the teams who will be delighted to hear they were able to help. I have also personally thanked Alan and Rachel for the care that they gave you and your son.

Thank you for taking your time to tell us about your experience.

Hi ndigoyp46,

I'm really sorry to hear about your son's recent illness, that must have been really worrying but I'm glad to see that he was so well cared for by all the NHS staff who helped to look after him.

I see my colleagues from NHS Lothian have already responded to your wider comments but I just wanted to thank you for the kind comments about our staff at the Scottish Ambulance Service. It is much appreciated.

Take care,

Mark
