Our mum/gran was in hospital for a few days mid March
She was in A&E for a number of hours whilst we were waiting on a bed becoming available in a ward. She was treated wonderfully by the staff in the department and for that we are grateful.
She was admitted to ward 2 where unfortunately her condition deterioted. The care and compassion that she was treated with was fantastic which extended to us as a family. It started with a phone call to ask us to come to the hospital and when it became apparent that she wasn't going to make it the wonderful staff on night shift moved quickly to give her a room and us a family room. They honestly made it so much easier for us as a family to come to terms with the fact she was leaving us. The care and dignity shown to her when she passed away was again second to none. The care and compassion shown to us was continued on by the wonderful day shift and for that we will always be grateful.
Its at time like this we can appreciate our NHS as when we had a family member pass away at another hospital she was not afforded the wonderful care and compassion that was our family experience at Hairmyers
