"We received a very high standard of care throughout"

About: Antrim Area Hospital / Delivery Suite Antrim Area Hospital / Outpatients Department 4 (Maternity) Antrim Area Hospital / Ward C2 Maternity care

(as the patient),

I attended OPD4 throughout the duration of my pregnancy. The staff on this outpatient clinic are fantastic - very friendly reception staff, HCAs and nurses/midwives. The midwife in this clinic, Tracy, is also fantastic and I was always grateful to see her and for her support.

We were incredibly lucky to have been under the care of Dr Barclay & Dr Chandranath - there are no words for how brilliant both of these doctors are. Their care was above and beyond throughout the duration of my pregnancy - particularly in the 3rd trimester when I had a few admissions with blood pressure/swelling and other symptoms. Both doctors were incredibly on the ball and always listened to how I was feeling and validated my concerns - I feel like this is an amazing quality in a doctor as it would be somewhat natural and easy to say that as a pregnant woman it could be anxiety (which I honestly thought myself, particularly towards the end)! But this was never the case with either Dr Barclay or Dr Chandranath - I was always heard, validated and any concerns checked.

We ended up delivering a little early, thanks to Dr Barclay investigating some concerns I raised at twin clinic. Dr Barclay talked through things with me when this decision was made and was happy to answer any questions, as she always was throughout. She then stayed long after her shift should have ended and was the doctor for the delivery, which is very special to us.

I must also note that Dr Chandranath called to visit us just before theatre and just after, and came to visit again when we were still on the ward postnatally. Dr Barclay also visited us on the postnatal ward too.

Two incredible doctors who despite being very in demand and very busy, take the time to really know their patients and build a genuine doctor patient relationship.

We feel very grateful for the care we received from both doctors, the staff in OPD4 and the staff in C2 (midwife Catherine was amazing - and midwife Lynn was fantastic when we spent some time in recovery after delivery). We received a very high standard of care throughout.

Thank you all!

Dear hydrajq75,

I would like to thank you for completing such a detailed account of the care you received in OPD4,the birthing suite and postnatally in C2. I am extremely pleased to hear that you received a high standard of care in all areas of maternity and from all staff within the team.

The staff really appreciate hearing feedback from women and their families. I will ensure that this is shared with all of the teams described and especially with those staff whom you have highlighted so positively.

Thankyou once again for taking the time to respond.

Wishing you all the best

Kind Regards,

Louisa Lapworth
