"Support, empathy and professionalism"

About: Victoria Hospital / Day Intervention Unit Victoria Hospital / Endoscopy

(as the patient),

I visited the Victoria Hospital unit for an investigative colonoscopy. I am post stem cell transplant and had concerns that the cancer had returned.

I was welcomed by a friendly receptionist, ushered by a very helpful nurse called Kerry. She asked me how follow up questions from my pre-appointment call. She was friendly and attentive. I was a tad nervous about pain however she reassured me that the team would keep an eye on me during the procedure.

Michelle was the senior CNS carried out the procedure with the assistance of Gillian. I was given a comprehensive explanation of what was going to happen. I felt fully at ease during the procedure.

In Recovery, I was treated to tea and toast and had a chat albeit a woozy with a friendly Sister.

I can’t help praise the nursing team enough for their support, empathy and professionalism.
