I was going through a particularly challenging and difficult time in my life, after being an inpatient in a psychiatric unit, I was thankfully and finally referred to this much needed and in my opinion underfunded service.
My initial contact with the service and with a Clinical Psychologist was fantastic, his experience went above and beyond what my expectations were. After a period of assessment and formulation, it was agreed upon with my input that I would commence Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and it was explained very well.
I was given materials, a skills booklet and also during the group as well as my one to one informal advice about other forms of psycho education. I felt validated, understood, included and accepted. My opinions, thoughts and feelings were also taken into account at all stages of the process as set out in the NI Regional Care Pathway For EUPD.
