"Excellent NHS service"

About: Arbroath Infirmary / Minor Injuries Arbroath Infirmary / X-rays and Scans NHS 24 / NHS 24 (111 service) Physiotherapy / MSK Physiotherapy

(as the patient),

I fell up the steps of my house late Jan 2025. My thumb and hand were very painful but I decided to 'wait and see' what would happen.

On the Sunday after, the pain was worse so I called 111, the lady was so nice and said it sounded like a fracture so she made an appointment to go to Arbroath Minor injuries. There I was treated so well and the Nurse agreed it looked like a fracture and to return the following day for an X ray which confirmed that my thumb was fractured. Again X-ray staff were so kind and I was seen on time.

From there I was told to attend at Ninewells Hospital Physiotheraphy Dept. next day.

At first I was seen by Physiotherapist Cyndi and then by Rebecca who has been so kind, helpful and knowledgeable. I have now been discharged but really wanted to place on record my appreciation of the wonderful care and attention I have received from NHS Tayside at every stage of recovery from this unfortunate accident.

Thankyou for your kind message of appreciation for the treatment you received from our staff. I will pass this onto both Cyndi and Rebecca personally and please be assured that your message will be passed onto all the services you used on your 'patient journey'. Best of luck with the rest of your recovery.

Dear Edith621

Thank you for taking the time to complete a Care Opinion and for your kind comments on your treatment in the Minor Injuries Unit.

I am sorry to hear you had a fall at home at the beginning of the year resulting in a thumb and hand injury but delighted you had a positive experience at the Minor Injuries Unit and were referred onto the physiotherapy department.

I will ensure your kind comments are passed onto the team in the Minor Injuries Unit and wish you well.

Best Wishes

Rhianne Roberts

Dear Edith621,

Thank you for sharing your story on Care Opinion.

I was sorry to learn of your injury at the beginning of the year, this sounds very painful and it is great to hear that you have now been discharged from Physiotherapy.

I understand there are a few services tagged to your story, I reply on behalf of NHS 24.

Thank you for your kind words in relation to your call to the 111 service. If you wish to share some more information with me, including your Care Opinion username, then I could identify the staff who managed your call to NHS 24 and share your Care Opinion story with them. We always like to ensure that staff see positive feedback to reinforce for them how valued their care is when people call our services.

You can contact me by email at Patient.Experience@nhs24.scot.nhs.uk

Thank you again for sharing your story.

Best wishes,

Stephanie
