"Maternity - birth experience"

About: Maternity care / Labour suite maternity NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde / Home Birth Team

(as a service user),

I just wanted to share positive feedback for both the homebirth team (especially my homebirth allocated midwife Caroline) and also the team (specifically Lucy I think her name was on labour ward at queen Elizabeth maternity).

Caroline was fantastic and so supportive. I loved her no nonsense style as well as her caring manner. She was 10/10.

Unfortunately we didn't get to have a homebirth but we went for induction at QEUH as the Royal was full. After 2 rounds of prostaglandin gel I had my first contraction and my baby arrived very quickly 37 minutes later.

We were rushed into labour ward and greeted by a midwife I believe was called Lucy (I may be wrong as I was a bit woozy). Not only did she keep me calm and deliver my baby in minutes, but she stayed late to discharge me within 6 hours as did some of the other team on the ward after. I think they did this because they knew I wanted a HB and preferred to be at home.

Each and every one of the ladies looking after me did a phenomenal job and I'm very grateful to them all. Thank you! You all made my daughter's birth special and made me feel so at ease even though my daughter was in a bit of a rush! Angels the lot of you! Thank you!!

Dear Grace372

Congratulations on the birth of your daughter and thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience. I appreciate this is a busy time for you with a new baby.

I will share your kind words with Caroline and Lucy and the other staff who assisted you in the birth of your baby girl. It was lovely to read that although you didn't have the birth at home as planned, the staff provided a person centred approach to make it special and supported you to get home as soon as possible.

May I take this opportunity to wish you and your family well.

Best wishes

Elaine
