"Fabulous Care!"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Neurosurgery (Ward 64 – 66) Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Pre-Operative Assessment

(as a relative),

My grandad was recently diagnosed with a brain aneurysm. Ever since his referral to the QEUH, his care has been fabulous.

His consultant, Dr Izzath, has been amazing from the first appointment, with a very kind and caring manner, informative, and helpful. His secretary was also very helpful the few times I had to phone to either change appointments or chase things up.

The CNS, Margaret, who works on the INR team, was also very helpful and kind. The nurse who carried out his pre-op assessment, Ainsley, then looked after him prior to going to theatre, providing great continuity of care and really helping put his mind at ease seeing a familiar, friendly face.

He was then taken to ward 66 post-theatre and continued to receive great care! His nurses, Jamie-Leigh and I, didn’t get the other nurses’ names, but they were very attentive, kind, and caring. Their genuine compassion made a difficult time much easier.

Overall, all the staff involved in his care were attentive, empathetic, and skilled, consistently prioritising his well-being. I deeply appreciated their dedication and the positive impact they had on his experience.

Dear JMilli

Thank you so much for taking the time to share such kind and thoughtful feedback about your grandad’s recent care at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

We are truly heartened to hear that his experience—from diagnosis through to treatment and post-operative care—was met with such compassion, professionalism, and dedication from our teams. It means a great deal to know that during such a challenging time, your grandad was supported and reassured every step of the way.

Your recognition of Dr Izzath’s informative and caring approach, as well as the support provided by his secretary, Margaret from the INR team, and Ainsley during pre-operative care, is greatly appreciated. Continuity of care and familiar faces can make such a difference, and we’re so pleased to hear how this helped to ease his anxiety before surgery.

We will also ensure your lovely comments are passed on to the team on Ward 66, including Jamie-Leigh and the wider nursing staff. Their dedication, empathy, and attentiveness are a source of pride for us, and your acknowledgment of their work will mean a great deal to them.

We wish your grandad all the very best in his recovery and continued health.

Kind regards

Kevin
