I was referred here after approaching my GP thinking I had binge eating disorder. After my initial assessment with the psychologist I was diagnosed with Bulimia.
I started the guided self help program, and due to issues with money I wasn't able to get past step one as I couldn't buy the amount of food they wanted me to eat and I'd been ill and had a really stressful time and wasn't emotionally able to cope with going to the next step even if I "could" afford it.
After a couple of months, my review was pulled forward. They weren't happy that I hadn't managed to get past step one, and then dropped the bombshell that they believed I'd not completed my food logs properly and they suggested that I would be in hospital if I'd only eaten the things I'd said I'd eaten, but I was brutally honest on my food logs, even when I was ashamed at the amount I had eaten.
Needless to say, I was discharged and told that if I wanted to try again that I could get myself re-referred to them through my GP.
I was very disappointed with the treatment I received. There had been times I'd actually been proud of myself, thinking I'd done well and they just totally ripped that apart in one appointment. I don't think I'll be going back, I would rather try and do it myself.
