"I am still waiting"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Gynaecology Services

(as a service user),

After going back and forward to my doctor from the age of 17 with issues I was eventually referred to a gynaecologist (by this point I am now in my mid 40s) and I am diagnosed with severe PMDD. I was then given an injection every 3 months to put me into a chemical menopause, which they will control with HRT. This is making very little difference to me.

After having to fight to see the gynaecologist again I finally got a telephone appointment in November last year and it was agreed that I would be put on the urgent list for a full hysterectomy in the new year.

When someone says new year to me I expect January/February but here we are in April and I am still waiting. The last I heard is that I would be booked in for May, but when I called to say I still hadn’t received any formal notification - ie a letter -  I was told there had been an issue and May was no longer possible.

I am a single working parent. I have told my work who have arranged cover for me. I have arranged childcare so I can recover. I have family members putting their lives on hold due to this. My whole adult life has been ruined by this horrible condition yet I am just left to suffer!

When I request to speak to the gynaecologist now I am told it probably won’t be possible as I am now on the inpatient list or something? How can this be allowed to happen? Please help me. I can’t continue living like this for much longer.
