"Outstanding service."

About: Royal Albert Edward Infirmary

I was admitted to Cardiology with chest pains that were alarming me. I had a wait at A and E but that was not a concern as I had been seen and put at ease. My entry for attention meant a quick examination then I was wheeled down to Cardiology.

I was informed that I had suffered a heart attack but that it was treatable without immediate urgency. The two senior Consultants both saw me and gave me comforting advice about their intended procedure and all the while the nursing staff were top class.

Next morning I had a stent fitted, all the time the Cardiologist was informative and reassuring. Next morning I felt shaky but reassured and was discharged feeling confident that my future depended on me listening to good advice and following that advice.

As the weeks went on I had a wonderful Cardiac Nurse to raise my spirits and she imparted sensible and achievable guidelines. I joined the Cardiac exercise group at Leigh Sports Village and have now joined the next stage exercise group which I love.

Today I joined the Cardiac Support meeting in Wigan and had a Psychologist, a Pharmacist and a Cardiac Nurse all giving us sound and sensible advice with information about how our bodies had been impacted and more guidelines on the way forward.

I feel so grateful to each and every one of the people involved. It has been such a positive passage in my life and having lost a stone and a half I feel in a good way and know I am on the right path with people prepared to listen and advise.

Royal Albert Hospital please accept my grateful thanks.

if names have to be deleted please do that but I am one grateful and lucky patient.
