"This was the best healthcare experience for me"

I had an appointment with the Ballymena Sexual Health and Contraceptives Clinic to get my Mirena IUD removed. This was a decision I made due to some side effects.

I informed the nurses who dealt with my care that day, Agnes and Marion, that I had a very unpleasant experience getting my IUD inserted in my GP practice and had experienced significant pain leading to vomiting and abnormally heavy bleeding.

Agnes and Marion were more than reassuring and immediately reduced my anxiety about the removal. They made the procedure quick and almost completely painless. They offered me a glass of water and some time to gather myself before leaving the room. They gave me information and advice about fertility and the barrier methods, providing me with condoms to protect my health. 

This was the best healthcare experience for me, they took into account my feelings, opinions and educated me. Their bedside manner was excellent and empathy was shown.
