Elderly parent attended A&E with acute confusion and pyrexia, previous history of sepsis and dementia.
He was assessed promptly by triage (triage nurse was lovely), taken straight through to a room, reviewed and admitted to ARU4. Every member of staff we encountered ,was professional compassionate and friendly, despite being in a ridiculously busy unit.
Transferred to 2A, tests and treatment carried out promptly, family kept informed and involved in care. We too often see horror stories about the QEUH but our experience this time was one of exemplary care.
Dr Seenan and Dr Bingham provided exceptional care and to be honest every staff member we met made me feel proud of our NHS.
Having an elderly parent with dementia in hospital is a stressful time and I can honestly say I felt he was in the best of hands.
Please all keep up the exceptional work you do, it really does make such a difference feeling confident that your family member is being looked after by people who care. Every single one of you, Consultants, triage nurses, FY2s, staff nurses, HCSWs, catering staff and porters make a stressful time much more bearable and you do it under difficult conditions.
Thank you all from a very grateful family
