"Need more experienced GPs"

About: Newbury Green Medical Practice

I’ve been with this practice for 15 years and just lately there seems to be an influx of young GPs and the majority of the more experience. GPs seem to be leaving the practice now whilst I can understand the older GPs do retire I’m now finding the appointments are rushed, certain physical checks are not being done, And you’re having to tell these new GPs what is that you need because the majority of the time they don’t seem to read through your conditions,

I came in to see a new younger GP last week and when he walked into the room, I thought I was talking to a personal trainer. The GP was wearing a gym leggings and a sports bra Which which didn’t leave much to be imagination, I actually felt quite uncomfortable talking to her whilst she was wearing what she was wearing, it wasn’t

professional attire at all , the appointment was rushed and I felt that I wasn’t being listened to a mad condition wasn’t being taken seriously despite the fact that my blood test came back extremely abnormal ,I have a condition that means I don’t absorb vitamins and she basically told me that it was my responsibility to take a multivitamin every day. I have to have high doses of different vitamins which are on prescription only so taking a multivitamin would not make any difference to my condition neither would rectify the fact that the sixth of the main vitamins we need to function where extremely low, from now on I will try and stick to one of the older GPs. If I can possibly get to see them I thought means waiting for a couple of weeks. I will wait for a couple of weeks. The younger GPs seem to be rushing people in and out and it’s almost like you’re having to tell them how to do their job and what to investigate and want to look for when it shouldn’t be like that., they definitely need more experienced GPs at that practice

Many thanks for your feedback. We have professional dress codes at the practice. Do please get in touch directly so we can investigate the allegedly inappropriate attire.

All our staff are suitably qualified and experienced, and we do not discriminate based on age. Appointment lengths do not vary based on the age of the clinician, but may vary based on the concern being addressed. It is best practice and encouraged for clinicians to clarify relevant details of medical conditions, rather than rely on notes on the screen.

I am pleased to say we have a wide variety of demographics represented in our staff make up. Several of our new recruits have been qualified for many years, and a few have previously practiced in other specialties and so have lots of additional experience and expertise to offer our patients.

We are proud to be inclusive and celebrate diversity in order to best suit all our patients’ varied needs. I would encourage you to get in touch directly to find more about how our proactive care and chronic disease optimisation processes are leading to the best possible outcomes for patients.

If you have any ideas of how we can further develop services, please do attend our active patient participation group
