I had to unexpectedly get emergency surgery and then had a stay in ICU.
I would like to thank all staff in ward 64 when I was first admitted, especially staff nurse Charlie for taking exceptionally good care of me when I became unwell post op and making sure I got all the right treatment quickly and for transferring me to ICU safely even though this all feels like a blur I do remember his reassurance and quick treatments but also for advocating for me and escalating my care when I quickly deteriorated. Thank you to all the staff in ICU for all their care and attention, making sure I got the right treatment, ensuring I was comfortable at all times and providing constant reassurance when I was unwell. In particular I remember staff nurse Rebekah who provided excellent patient centred care and ensured my pain was always managed.Once I was out from ICU I was moved to ward 65 where again the staff were all excellent but in particular staff nurse Niamh who always ensured I had everything I required and looked after me very well despite the ward being very busy I still felt like I had great 1-1 care! I would also love to thank all the theatre and recovery staff for their friendly banter and again, making a scary experience more comfortable! This has been an extremely stressful and upsetting time for myself but I am feeling extremely grateful for the high level of care I received in ward 64,65, ICU and theatres I felt in very safe hands!
