"Difficult to get a telephone consultation"

About: Sexual Health Services - Telford and Wrekin (Open Clinic)

It was very difficult to get a telephone consultation to request coil removal - I was offered Wednesday only (when I’m often in work meetings) and a wide time slot of “morning”. In my job it is not appropriate to take personal calls so it was difficult to plan for such a wide timeframe. It took several months of calling to book an appointment to be able to arrange it for a date that was suitable for work. It would have been helpful for their to be more options of days of the week rather than just Wednesdays and/or for afternoons to be offered for these telephone consultations. Especially as the consultation was basically, what can we do for you, I’d like my coil removed because my partner has had a vasectomy, ok let’s book you in.

My actual appointment  at Bishton Court was brilliant. The two staff (I can’t remember their names sorry) were lovely, friendly, calming and professional. I work for the NHS and they are staff the NHS should be proud of. Having the coil removed felt dignified, quick and painless and I was done within 10 minutes.

Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us at sexual health. I am pleased that your procedure was successful and our staff made you feel comfortable throughout your appointment. I am sorry that trying to get a consultation was hard but unfortunately there is only limited staff that are trained to do these consultations.
