About: NHS 24 / NHS 24 (111 service) NHS Grampian / GDENS (Grampian Emergency Dental Service)

(as a service user),

I had recently been to my dentist because of an infection under a back tooth I was prescribed antibiotics and returned to the dentist for a check up and arrange for extraction of the tooth. At this point the swelling and pain had subsided. 

My dentist was going on holiday so the first available appointment  for extraction was in May. 

One Friday evening  my face started to swell up again and by Saturday morning things had got so bad I had to contact NHS24. This was my first experience of phoning 111.

After the initial wait to be answered everything happened very smoothly and I was at the emergency dental practice at ARI by 11:30. 

I was seen by Becky a Dentist and Emma a Dental Nurse. 

I must admit I was absolutely beside myself when Becky explained that the tooth had to come out straight away and the socket drained. 

Between them both they managed to calm me down and reassure me of all the concerns and worries I had. Never having had a tooth out under local anaesthetic and imagining all sorts of pulling and tugging I was still anxious. 

Turns out they were right and the tooth was out before I knew it and they managed to drain the socket. 

The relief was incredible and I left with more antibiotics which I’m still taking and hoping the rest of the swelling goes soon. 

I was so lucky to be seen by Becky and Emma and given all the time, patience and understanding I needed. 

I can’t thank them enough. 

Everyone at the practice was so lovely including the young lady on reception who also deserves a shout out. 

Well done to you all a great team of professionals.

Thank you for your kind words. It's lovely to hear that Becky our Dentist, Emma our Dental Nurse, and our receptionist were all there to support you through your care. We understand how stressful dental issues can be, especially when they arise unexpectedly. It's wonderful to hear that Becky and Emma were able to provide the reassurance and care you needed during such a challenging time.

Additionally, your appreciation for our receptionist is greatly valued. Her friendly and professional demeanour is a vital part of our team, and we are glad she could contribute to your positive experience.
