I went for a private scan to discover my baby had no heartbeat, this was devastating news I was expecting to be much further on but my baby had stopped growing about 6 weeks.
I was advised to contact early pregnancy at University hospital wishaw. When I called them they organised a further scan the next day. When I attended the scan at Wishaw they had the same findings but they could not confirm that I was having a miscarriage that day as they had to allow time for growth incase my dates were wrong, I appreciated this as I wanted my baby to have every chance and had to attend in 2 weeks for a further scan.
At my next scan the baby had not grown and there was no heartbeat, this was devastating news. I was then transferred to a room to talk to a nurse about what to do next. I then met Heather, she talked through the next steps and what options I had going forward. I decided on surgery where you have a general anaesthetic, this was organised for the following week.
I arrived on that day and Heather was there to meet me, she cared for me the full day and was amazing, she made me feel at ease and safe and was still there when I came back from theatre. I can't express my gratitude enough to her on the way that she cared and looked after me I was so scared and she made me feel safe and as if I was the only person who mattered that day. Thank you.
"She made me feel safe"
