"Exceptional care and support"

About: Antrim Area Hospital / Ward B2 Acute Medicine (AMU2)

(as a relative),

You often hear the bad stories and how broken the NHS is and it is rare that you hear the good. My Great Aunt was recently admitted to AMU 2 for 3.5 weeks. From the moment we arrived to heading home, all the staff were so welcoming and friendly. We cannot thank them all enough - the care, attention and compassion they showed the whole family was remarkable.

Staff rotate around the bays so it was lovely when staff made a point to come in to see my Aunt and check on how she was, even though they weren’t working on her bay that day. Even those going on leave called in to say goodbye just in case we were discharged before they were back at work!

When she was at her sickest the staff kept reassuring us that she was getting better and celebrated with us at every milestone. We miss the friendly chats and laughter during visits.

Even though they are run off their feet most of the time, staff are so obliging. Multiple teams worked with my Aunt during our time there, but I can honestly say they treated the person and not the age, which was so comforting.

The nursing staff, physios, nursing assistants, OT’s, doctors and auxiliary staff are all excellent. Their encouragement and diligent care was first class.

As a family we are eternally grateful for the exceptional care and support that our Aunt received. Your professionalism and knowledge really made a difficult time much easier and eased our minds knowing that she was in good hands. You all truly went above and beyond.

The staff at AMU2 are a real credit to the Northern Trust, an incredible group of talented people who work together to accomplish amazing results! Thank you all so very much!

Dear LAB88

Thank you so much for taking the time to publish this comment on the care your Aunt received in AMU2.

I am so pleased to hear about the care, attention and compassion that she, and your family received. This is defiantly something we are always striving to achieve, so it is so nice to hear that it is happening.

The staff do always true to provide exceptional care and professionalism, so very reassuring to hear that this was felt by you all.

I will be sure to pass this onto the nursing staff, physios, nursing assistants, OT’s, doctors and auxiliary staff.

Wishing your Aunt well in recovery, and wishing all the best to your entire family.
