"Support for my sister"

About: Queen Margaret Hospital / Endoscopy

(as a relative),

My sister - who is profoundly deaf -  was contacted following a routine bowel screening test. The accommodations made to support my sister from the initial phone call to the investigation at the Endoscopy Unit was faultless.

My sister has thankfully never needed to attend hospital before now, so the unknown made her very anxious. I was welcomed to be by her side and help with her communication.

The kindness shown by everyone on her patient journey was so appreciated from the first phone call, to the receptionist, nurses and doctor on the unit was much appreciated.

Dear Fifyb84,

Many thanks for your kind words regarding your sisters recent visit to our Regional Endoscopy Unit at Queen Margaret Hospital.

I was on duty that day and can appreciate how difficult it would be for your sister to be out of her normal environment coming in to Endoscopy for her procedure. It was nice to hear you found the kindness of all the staff from the Bowel Screening Telephone Assessment through to discharge helped her through her journey and so on to discharge home.

I will ensure the staff know of how appreciative you both were.

kind regards

Yvonne Bernard
