"Getting my son diagnosed with autism"

About: Children and Young People's Services / CAMHS (Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service)

(as a parent/guardian),

My wife and son attended a new with a doctor regarding my son potentially getting diagnosed with autism. Prior to this meeting, questionnaires regarding this matter were sent out to ourselves as well as our son's school.

At the meeting the Doctor we saw was so good, she made my son feel so good about himself, which is something we have wanted for him for a long time.  During the meeting she was really nice and pleasant and made my son feel at ease with his autism diagnosis.

The doctor was so good that not long after the meeting I had a telephone conversation with her and asked if she could look after our youngest son, who is also in the process of perhaps being diagnosed with autism, honestly can’t speak highly enough of her.

Dear Barry261

Thank you for sharing such a heartfelt message. It’s wonderful to hear how this doctor’s kindness and approach made such a positive impact—helping your son feel valued, and supported through his diagnosis.

The team will deeply appreciate hearing just how much their work has mattered to you and your family. And that you have taken the time to share your story and express your gratitude will mean a great deal not only to the doctor you mentioned but also to the team.

I will pass your comments onto the whole team and hope your son is doing well with the advice and support given.

Many thanks again for taking the time to write this care opinion.
