I was admitted to the kinclaven ward for alcohol detox.
Immediately on entering the ward I felt safe for the first time in a long time. The amazing staff immediately put a broken man at ease. I cannot begin to explain how important this was to me.
For the next week the kindness and warmth from the staff , along with astounding levels of understanding and professionalism gave me something that I still can’t put into words. I especially recall being given hugs that I was desperate for but to proud to ask for.
Such things are priceless and often lifesaving.
When I arrived I hadn’t eaten for days, but the quality of the food was such that my appetite returned with a bang. Life is still hard for me mentally, but because of those angels in nurses uniforms I’m able to see a future.
They simply saved my life and I am and will always be so very grateful.
I am excited about the future and that in itself is a miracle.
