Firstly I got introduced to the lovely counsellor? (don’t know if that’s the correct description) and they told me about CAMHS and what it does/is.
Then they asked if I wanted my mum in the room and I declined so Mum was shown back to the waiting room and the interrogation started (😂). It was basically a lot of questions to get to know me and what my problems are, it was a lot of talking but to be fair they had only read what my doctor had put on my file so obviously they wanted more details.
At the start it was easier questions which I liked because I didn’t really have to think about the answers; who do you live with, what are their names/ages, do you have any siblings just the general knowledge stuff. Then we got into the deep stuff. When (such and such) happened what did it feel like and do you know why that felt the way it did. Why do you think you are here today. Some of it was quite hard to explain as at the time and whenever it happens you don’t really think about the feelings that come you just kind of feel them if that makes any sense.
It was also challenging to have to go back and relive some of those things in your head in order to answer some of the questions. Overall I found the experience helpful to put some of my problems into perspective and it was such a relief to finally let it all out to someone who was able to understand.
