"Lovely compassionate care"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / Emergency Department Southern Health & Social Care Trust / Urgent Care Centre (Phone First)

(as a service user),

First class service from start to finish. Upon chatting to a Doctor who rang me night before regarding my chest pain, he advised me to come to craigavon urgent care to see him. I declined this due to being an ED trained myself, as I felt clinically well apart from pain on inspiration.

I went through the night and next morning I rang urgent care again and got an appointment for 1pm that day. My pain was slightly elevated that morning so I was taking no chances. I was called fairly quickly and got clinical obs and called by Doctor Rachel who was exceptionally good to me from the start. She was taking no chances and used every check on me to rule out everything she could think of regarding possible PE. 12 lead ecg, full bloods and chest and abdominal checks monitored with an x-ray ordered. Dr Alister was very prompt and professional and she reassured me by telling me she would ring me with blood results as soon as she received them. Terri was the HCA who was fantastic at obtaining my bloods (little to no pain at all) and was chatty and very friendly upon meeting her which put me as ease straight away. Christine was also in the treatment room and she was also a very friendly girl who made me feel much more comfortable during my ecg and bloods etc.

I know the pressures our acute services are under and urgent care gives the patient an appointment, sees you promptly and takes immediate action or refers you if/when needed to ED dept. I also had an xray ordered from Dr Alister and didn’t even sit on the seat when I gave my name to the receptionist. This service is so well run and the staff are absolutely amazing throughout. Dr Alister rang me with my results confirming an elevated D.Dimer within 2.5hrs. I went to ED and staff were also so quick and promptly treated me exceptionally well. I was sent for a ctpa next morning confirming my results.

I want to thank Dr. Alister and Terri for their kindness and compassionate care towards me. I will absolutely signpost anyone who may feel clinically unwell to use this service if they feel it can do without sitting long prolonged hrs in the ED department or isn’t an emergency. My appointment was 1pm and I was back in my car and heading home at before 3pm. Thank you for taking care of me and for the lovely compassionate care you gave me. Fantastic service and you are an absolute credit to our NHS.
