I was admitted with neutropena sepsis whilst on chemo in February 2014. I had a side room for first two days as I was at risk of infection. After this I was moved to the general ward 9B. There were 2 dementia patients who screamed and banged about nearly all day and night. I felt utterly exhausted and near to tears every day. Even when on side room the noise was not condusive to getting better. Might have to be admitted during this round of chemo. Dreading it and getting stressed already.

Thank you for telling us about your experience and I am sorry your stay with us was not as comfortable as we would like.

I cannot comment on individual cases but if in future you are admitted to a general ward in similar circumstances, please ask to speak to the ward manager.

I can also assure you that we do not administer chemotherapy treatment on general wards.
