"New Years Eve at Northern General A&E"

About: Northern General Hospital

(as the patient),

On New Year's Eve I tripped and put my arm through a glass door (and I hadnt even had a drink!) and got a very nasty cut on my arm. We went to Northern General Casualty where the treatment basically was very good.

Although it was not that late the place was already full of very drunk people who were making it difficult for the staff. But although it delayed things they coped very well.

We had to wait 30 minutes to be assessed to begin with and then another two and a half hours before all the treatment was finally finished. I felt a bit nauseous because of the cut during all the waiting but aside from that the staff were very good.

I didn't want stitches and the staff listened to this and used lots of steristrips to hold the skin together which was great.

Now the arm is still a bit sore but healing well. I think its unfair to staff and other patients though that so many drunk people cause so much trouble in A&E at times like this.
