One evening in late February my daughter was rushed to BCH with suspected meningitis. We arrived at A&E and the receptionist took our concerns seriously and we seen by a nurse within 15 minutes even though they were very busy. After examining my daughter, the nurse called a doctor immediately and they straight away administered antibiotics. The young doctor and nurse (Emma) were extremely efficient, calm and professional.
We were then taken to ward 9 and put into an isolation room. Yvonne, the nurse who initially welcomed us into the ward, was very helpful and caring. The service we received all round was excellent. I would especially like to thank student nurse Azeefah Sahid who went more than the extra mile to keep us informed at every step of the way. She really cared about us, even bringing books for my daughter to look at. She has a wonderful career ahead of her and should be commended. All of the staff we met were professional and reassuring and I felt a lot calmer knowing that my daughter was in their care. Thank you to all of the staff - you are doing an amazing job.
