What I liked
I must congratulate all staff on my recent experience in the extended day surgery unit at West Middlesex Hospital. From appointment to completion of surgery. I have been impressed by the people who cared for me and the environment who at all times demonstrated committment, expertise and competence, while not losing the human touch.
From reception to pre-assessment and the day of surgery I always felt safe and in good hands. The consultant took time to visit me and reassure me that things had gone well despite being still performing surgery late into the evening. The nurse and her colleagues on Friday 7th anticipated my every need, giving me pain relief without me having to request it, they just knew. They were clearly busy, but always smiling, and by the end of the day all the patients in the unit felt like friends and were having quite a laugh - not something one would expect after surgery!
I chose to come to West Middlesex, and it was the right decision.
It is very easy to critisize, and the bad experiences of some can taint public perception and be difficult to overcome. I hope that positive experiences can balance some of the negatives.
I shall certainly be spreading the positive aspects!
"I must congratulate all staff ..."
